The Holy See has not signed, and does not intend to sign,''the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with disabilities'''entry into force on 8 May this year.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the disabled and 'the first human rights treaty of the third millennium and it' been approved by the UN General Assembly in 2006.
The Holy See has participated actively in the work for the drafting of the text, which lasted five years but in the end, and 'refused to sign it 'cause it does not contain an express prohibition against abortion.

The Convention, with its 50 articles, sets out in detail the rights of persons with disabilities.
It deals, among other things, civil and political rights, accessibility, participation, right to education, health, employment and social protection.
Above all, the Convention recognizes that a change of attitude in society is essential to enable people with disabilities to achieve full equality, where it says that this convention guarantees the right to abortion?? So
the refusal of the Vatican would affect the non-inclusion of a provision in which it explicitly declared the ban on women to abort disabled!
